«When I work with the sources I feel that those people are standing before my eyes,» historian Anatoly Razumov has been collecting biographies of the purged for the last 30 years. As a result of his longstanding work, Razumov published Leningrad Martirology, a collection 50 thousand names of purged Leningraders in 16 volumes. He also helped create a memorial on the place of the largest NKVD execution and burial site.
POISK team visited Levashovo Wasteland to try to feel and convey the horror of deeds performed at this high-security facility.
Razumov believes that the remedy for collective amnesia will be discovered and every innocent victim of Stalin’s purges will find its peace.
