Teodor Currentzis, a famous conductor of Greek origin working in Russia, staged Mozart’s opera «Idomeni» at the famous Salzburg Festival together with opera director Peter Sellars. Some critics declared it genius, others — tore to smithereens.
Before the festival, Currentzis went on a tour of Germany, performing Symphony No. 7 of Shostakovich, also known as «Leningradskaya» with the German orchestra SWR. This name was given to symphony by the poetess Anna Akhmatova.
In between concerts, the maestro gave a series of short interviews about love, dreams, working with the public and the «Leningrad» symphony. We have gathered all the materials together and translated it for you in russian.
